The Drug Information Association’s (DIA) 2024 Global Annual Meeting in San Diego, California, proved to be a resounding success for the leading and largest Philippine CRO (Contract Research Organization), PiVOT. From forging new connections to showcasing the Philippines’ capabilities in clinical research, PiVOT’s participation left a lasting impression.
PiVOT’s team successfully exhibited at the event, attracting over 300 potential partners and clients. The booth buzzed with excitement as attendees learned about the Philippines’ growing role in the life sciences sector. Many expressed surprise and delight at the prospect of conducting clinical trials in the Philippines.
This positive reception was further amplified by the warm Filipino hospitality PiVOT offered. Visitors were treated to delightful Philippine snacks, traditional fans, and Yakan coin purses, fostering a sense of cultural connection and leaving a lasting positive impression.
Beyond showcasing Philippine capabilities, PiVOT actively engaged with industry leaders at the event. General Manager, Ms. Ella Mae Ortega, had the privilege of meeting key figures like DIA President Marwan Fathallah during the ACRO Networking event. This high-level interaction strengthens PiVOT’s position within the global clinical research landscape.
She also connected with Nimita Limiye, a distinguished figure in the life sciences industry. Ms. Limiye, the recipient of the DIA Global Connector Award at the Inspire Awards Ceremony, is renowned for her work in promoting global collaborations and advancing DIA’s mission. Her experience in diverse initiatives like real-world data utilization and decentralized clinical trials makes her a valuable asset to the industry.
Another notable DIA 2024 Inspire Award winner, Aaron Horowitz, co-founder and CEO of Empath Labs (formerly Sproutel), also visited the PiVOT booth. Empath Labs focuses on developing innovative products that bring comfort and joy to patients, exemplified by their creation of Jerry the Bear, a companion for children with type 1 diabetes. Such connections solidify PiVOT’s commitment to innovation and patient-centricity within the clinical research space.
Furthermore, the PiVOT team fostered valuable interactions with fellow Asian companies such as A2 Healthcare, EPS, LSK, and CMIC. These connections lay the groundwork for future partnerships that can accelerate clinical research advancements across the region.
A Familiar Face: Filipinos Making Global Connections
An unexpected delight for PiVOT was the high number of booth visitors with Filipino connections. This familiarity fostered a warm and welcoming atmosphere, further highlighting the positive perception of Filipino expertise and hospitality. These interactions demonstrate the growing global presence of Filipinos within the life sciences industry. PiVOT, by showcasing Philippine capabilities, not only promotes clinical research opportunities in the country but also celebrates the Filipino talent driving innovation on a global scale.
The knowledge and experience gained at DIA 2024 will be invaluable for PiVOT’s yearly event – PINNACLE, the Philippines’ premier clinical research gathering. This one-night event brings together key stakeholders in the Philippine clinical research space for an evening of learning and collaboration.
PiVOT’s insights obtained from DIA will be central to shaping PINNACLE, ensuring it serves as a platform for knowledge-sharing, fostering collaboration, and driving the Philippines’ rise as a clinical research powerhouse.
